How to Remote Play PS4 Games on Your Android Smartphone / Tablet

Since Sony has a bunch of advanced Android smartphones with its Xperia Smartphone series, it has a dedicated app for PlayStation 4 console to stream out the games right on any Xperia device. It just required a few steps to setup things properly and you will be able to stream out and play your favourite PlayStation 4 games on your Android smartphone.

Sony claims that this application is exclusively designed for Sony’s Xperia smartphones, however it is working fine on almost all types of Android devices running on Android 4.0 or above Android version.



PlayStation 4 Remote Play App is available on Play Store for all Android smartphone users. The best thing about this app is that, it is available for absolutely free. So you can test it out to any of your Android device for free. This app works smartly and gives you the best of gaming experience on your Android smartphone that you play on your PlayStation 4 console.

Since, the official remote play app for PlayStation is limited to a few Android devices only. You should go with a modified version of this application. XDA Developer has modified this version, which is now compatible on all types of Android smartphones running on Android 4.0 or above version. You can head over to the official XDA page and can download this app from there.



Before installing this application to your Android, make sure to enable Unknown Sources option. Go to your phone’s Settings menu and go to the Security of your phone. Scroll down to Unknown Sources option and enable this option. Once you enable this option in your phone, you will be able to install any third party applications to your device.



Now, you can install the PlayStation 4 Remote Play application’s modified version to your Android device. Just transfer the APK file and go to the Application Manager. Select the file and install it on your Android smartphone just like you install any other third party apps.



Once you install the PS4 Remote Play Application on your Android smartphone, make sure to setup the controller of the PlayStation and connect it wisely on your device.

Since, all Android devices are not same, it may not be working properly with the touch screen devices. So, it is the best option for you to kindly connect your PlayStation 4 Controller via Bluetooth.



In order to connect your controller, take the PS4 Controller on your hand and press and hold Share and PlayStation button at the same time. Once you see a light indication on the device, you will be able to pair it with any other Bluetooth device. Make sure to do it properly on the PS4 Controller.



Once, you see light on the Controller, go to your Android’s Bluetooth page. Scan for the nearby devices, you would see Wireless Controller option on the display. Select this Controller option and then connect the PS4 Controller to your Android device from there.

If you don’t want to connect with with Bluetooth, you can connect it with the use of a Physical USB data cable. Connect both, your Android and Controller with the cable.



To check whether the controller is connected or not, just move the Joystick of the Controller, and the navigation will start on your Android device itself. You could easily see it in the main home screen of your Android device.



Once you are done with all, now you have to setup the Remote Play. Make sure to setup the application by launching the device on your Android smartphone. Go to your Android’s Menu and select the Remote Play app.

Go through the configuration process in the PlayStation 4 Remote Play app on your Android device. Once you launch the app, you would be asked to configure this option. Just press the Next button and then hit the Skip button. Since you have already connected the Controller via Bluetooth, this will work anyway.

Now, you need to connect your Android smartphone with your PlayStation 4 console. In order to do so, make sure both the devices are connected on the same WiFi network. You have to sign into your PlayStation 4 Network account. You will be automatically connected with the device. If not, just go to the Settings page and you could see a 4 digit PIN number there. Enter the PIN, to connect your PlayStation 4 with the Android device.

Once the devices get connected, you would be able to see your PlayStation 4’s screen on the Android device within the PlayStation 4 Remote Play application. Just select any game which you want to play on your Android and start playing it right away by using the Controller. Put your Android device away and play the games remotely via Controller.

You can not just play PlayStation 4 games on Android devices or Xperia devices only, but you can even play and explore your PlayStation 4 games on other Sony devices such as PlayStation TV Set top box, Xperia’s other smartphones, PlayStation Vita and more.

Apart from this, Sony will soon announce the same Remote Play option to Windows and Mac users. So, just like Xbox One console, PlayStation 4 users will also be able to stream out their favourite PlayStation 4 games to a computer. However, it will take some time from Sony to announce its PC client for Windows and Mac users. Wait for some time and we could hear some official news from Sony regarding this announcement for Windows and Mac compatibility.
